What does a Payroll Bookkeeper do?

A Payroll Bookkeeper, also known as a Payroll Clerk, is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages to employees within an organization. Their duties include calculating employee hours, verifying attendance records, and applying appropriate pay rates and deductions. Payroll Bookkeepers also process payroll transactions, including issuing paychecks or electronic payments and reconciling payroll accounts. They maintain payroll records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. Additionally, they may assist employees with payroll-related inquiries and provide support during payroll audits.
