    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Tax Preparation: Enrolled Agents prepare tax returns for individuals, businesses, estates, and trusts. They ensure that all tax documents are accurate and filed on time to comply with IRS regulations.
    • Tax Planning: EAs help clients with tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities while staying compliant with tax laws. This includes advising on deductions, credits, and other tax-saving opportunities.
    • IRS Representation: Enrolled Agents can represent taxpayers in front of the IRS for audits, collections, appeals, and other tax-related matters. They act as advocates for their clients and communicate on their behalf with the IRS.
    • Tax Compliance: EAs help clients understand their tax obligations and ensure they comply with federal and state tax laws. They stay updated on tax code changes and advise clients accordingly.
    • Tax Resolution: In cases of tax disputes or owed taxes, Enrolled Agents negotiate with the IRS on behalf of their clients to reach favorable resolutions, such as installment agreements or offers in compromise.
    • Client Advisory: Beyond tax matters, Enrolled Agents may provide financial and business advisory services to help clients make informed decisions regarding investments, retirement planning, and other financial aspects.
