A Payable Bookkeeper, also known as an Accounts Payable Clerk, is responsible for managing the payment of bills and invoices owed by a company to its suppliers, vendors, and creditors. Their duties include verifying and processing invoices, reconciling purchase orders with delivery receipts, and ensuring payment amounts and terms accuracy. Payable Bookkeepers communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and maintain vendor records. They also play a key role in managing cash flow by scheduling and prioritizing payments to optimize financial liquidity while adhering to company policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Verifying and processing invoices accurately and timely.
    • Reconciling purchase orders with delivery receipts and invoices.
    • Communicating with vendors regarding payment inquiries and discrepancies.
    • Maintaining vendor records and ensuring compliance with payment terms.
    • Managing cash flow by scheduling and prioritizing payments.
    • Assisting in month-end and year-end closing processes and preparing accruals and financial reports related to accounts payable.
